"What a great opportunity to present, learn and connect with professionals in the field of process here in the lovely city of Cape Town SA, and to understand where the trends of supply and demand are driving us with our research. My main takeaway [from Process Mineralogy '24] is that being in the industry, I often focus on maintaining an efficient production flow and becoming satisfied when things are running smoothly. However, seeing the current advancements in technology makes me reflect on how far we've come in understanding and automating our minerals characterization which we really need to focus on to improve metal extraction including its byproduct."

John Logos Guiang, Boliden Mining Oy, Kevitsa Finland

"I was very happy to be back attending the Process Mineralogy '24 Conference in our beautiful Mother City (aka Cape Town), after the last event held in Sitges in 2022. I was reminded again what a niche conference series this is, bringing together experts in the field of process mineralogy, environmental mineralogy and geometallurgy.
We had some fantastic keynotes: Stewart Brand speaking on the future of geometallurgy, Dr Quentin Dehaine on cobalt mineralogy and processing opportunities, and A/Prof Anita Parbhakar-Fox on mine waste. Each of the three keynote speakers spoke about relevant issues in our field, challenging the audience.
True to form, MEI Conferences are a great way of catching up with old acquaintances and making some new connections. I look forward to Process Mineralogy '26."

African Rainbow Minerals Research Chair, Stellenbosch University, South Africa

"Thank you for the great organization of Process Mineralogy '18 . It was a double first for me: first time attending your conferences and first time in South Africa. Thank you for making this such a great experience on all levels."

Philippe Giaro, University of Liège, Belgium

"I would like to thank the organizers as well as the participants for this absolutely fantastic conference [Process Mineralogy '18]. It was my first participation in a MEI conference. The atmosphere during the entire conference was very friendly. As the conference was relatively small compared to other conferences I attended in Germany, the networking with other researchers was much easier. Furthermore, the topics discussed during the conference were a nice insight into the current problems in mineral processing. The academical background of the participants showed that mineral processing is a topic, which affects many different researchers (geologists, material engineers, chemical engineers, etc.). I can highly recommend this conference and would be happy to attend other MEI conferences in the future."

Bjoern  Lewandowski, University of Duisburg-Essen/Niederrhein Uni. Of Appl. Sci., Germany

"The conference [Process Mineralogy '18] was well organised and professionally designed for the process as well as allied engineers to update about the materials and minerals characterisation techniques/tools. The quality of the papers presented in the conference as well as the exhibition's booths was well represented by industry, academia as well as manufacturers/consultants. It is also one of the best occasions for networking among the participants."

Sunil Kumar Tripathy, Tata Steel, India

"Process Mineralogy '17 was an interesting and very informative conference, in fact it exceeded my expectations! Aside from the opportunity to learn from the presentations, there was also sufficient time for networking or simply to catch up with other participants."

Kate Tungpalan, University of the Philippines

"Process Mineralogy '17 was very well done and I found the content and quality to be excellent. I thought the pacing of the presentations and breaks for coffee and lunch were perfect and there was plenty of opportunity for networking across a variety of delegates with a wide range of experience and perspective. The talks on using Process Mineralogy to solve day to day metallurgical problems at operations were very encouraging. Our industry has a lot to gain from taking on this approach. The uncovered value reported by these presenters make the business case for investing in equipment and personnel to do on-site Process Mineralogy almost a "no-brainer" :). I am looking forward to attending Process Mineralogy 18."

Tom Strombotne, Global Product Manager, Minerals, Thermo Fisher Scientific, USA

"This was the best Process Mineralogy conference in the series so far [Process Mineralogy '17]. The papers were a good balance of topics and were well-presented. And the business network was productive. This has become a "must attend" for practitioners and operations managers alike."

"This conference [Process Mineralogy '12] has developed into a leading forum for Process Mineralogy."

Wolfgang Baum, FLSmidth, USA

"Thank you and the MEI team for a successful and interesting Process Mineralogy '12 conference. I am glad that I could attend the conference as a representative of Hazen Research, Inc., USA. It is always great------ mineralogy."

Hanna Horsch, Senior Mineralogist, SGS Natural Resources - Metallurgy and Consulting, USA

"Judging from the 44 papers and 12 poster presentations delivered at Process Mineralogy ’12, the future of Modern Process Mineralogy looks secure. The two keynote speakers, Baum and Miller, delivered useful lectures on the overall modern best practice, and on the emerging technology now available in tomography. The younger authors presented a very high standard of work with new thinking. The overall standard presented was very high, with useful case studies demonstrating value delivery in projects – now including extractive metallurgy, and some new methods under development to add to the Process Mineralogy toolbox. Good examples of the latter were the proposal by Wightman and Evans on a quantitative liberation model for grinding requirements; by Evans and Napier-Munn on estimating the error of grain size measurements; and an outstanding contribution by Pérez-Barnuevo on the development of a quantitative model to characterise the complexity of composite particles. By my book, an international conference worthy of putting on one’s “must attend” list into the future. "

Antonio Peres, UFMG, Brazil

"Thank you once again to the MEI team for putting on an outstanding conference [Process Mineralogy '12]. I'm also really proud of all the presenters for the high quality of the presentations and the discussions that followed (especially the PhD students). I agree with Hanna that Laura's paper was one of the best - and hope to see the outputs of her work becoming routinely available in the automated mineralogy software in the future. It was great to catch up with old acquaintances and also make some news ones."

"My compliments to all the organisers of Automated Mineralogy '07. Every aspect was great: the choice of hotel, facilities and menu was excellent, and choosing a location in the northern half of Australia was a smart move for early Aussie springtime. The choice of speakers and diversity of topics presented was extremely enthusing and informative. The generous tea break and lunch times were a clever strategy and the exhibitors’ info stalls were well supplied with industry Reps, brochures and factsheets. I enjoyed every session of the event and it was excellent value for money for my employer (the Australian Intellectual Property Office)."
